Gage - Three Months Old

Three months old and already so big!  Mommy and daddy find themselves falling in love with you more each day as you become your own little person and start to show us your own personality.

3 Months Old!

We didn't have an appointment with the doctor this month, so your stats are just a guess:

Height:                            23 1/2 in.
Weight:                           12 lbs 10 oz.
Head Circumference:  16 in
Diaper Size:                   Size 1
Clothing Size:                0 - 3 month and 3 month clothes, and even a few 3 - 6 month clothes

Here are a few of the things you have been up to in the past month:
  • Mommy had to go back to work this month, so starting May 9th, you began going to daycare :(.  This is has been quite an adjustment for both mommy and Gage, as we were used to spending all day, every day together.
    • You weren't able to get a good nap in during your first two days, so mommy went and got you a new swaddle for just at daycare.  That seems to have made a world of difference!
    • Daddy has been the drop off man and mommy has been picking you up.  Most of the time you are asleep when I come to get you, but when you are awake, I see you smiling at Jackie, which makes mommy feel good that you already like her.
    • On your third day of daycare you got a case of diarrhea (I have a feeling it's from your onset of drooling) and developed a pretty good case of diaper rash.  It looked like it really hurt, but you never seemed to fuss too much about it.
    • Our daycare lady also informed us she felt you were being held too much. Mommy may not agree with her, but none the less, we are trying to let you play more without being held, since you can't be held all the time at daycare!
    • Each day you seem to be adjusting more and more to being at daycare, so I think we will be able to make this work!
  • You are getting better about spending time on your tummy.  You are able to hold your head up at a 90-degree angle pretty steady, for at least 5 minutes at a time.  You LOVE looking in the mirror at yourself, even squealing at yourself in the mirror from time to time.
  • You are also becoming our rolling machine.  Once you figured out how to push yourself up and over, we haven't been able to get you to stop.  I think you figured out that's how to get out of doing tummy time :).
  • You continue to be our good little sleeper!  We are so very blessed.  You are still sleeping from 9 or 10 pm until 7 am.  Most mornings during the week daddy will actually wake you up for the day at around 7, as you have not gotten up yet yourself.  Daddy says you're so much happier when he wakes you up versus you waking up on your own!
    • Speaking of sleeping, I am glad we took the pediatrician's advice and started putting you down for bed while you are still awake.  You have taken to this pretty quickly, and bedtime has been no trouble, as you can quickly fall asleep in your crib even if we put you down awake.
  • You are quite the talker, especially in the morning.  If we can really get you going, you can talk to us for quite a while.
  • According to Jackie, our daycare lady, you are laughing now too.  Mommy is really excited to hear this, but sad at that same time :(.  I love that you are still progressing but it definitely hit home how much I'm going to hate missing all of your "firsts."  I think we're going to have to make it a rule to just not ask, and assume the first time mommy or daddy sees you do something is the first time!
  • We are definitely starting to see your personality.  You have quite the temper, as it takes you  no time at all to get upset if you decide you are not happy.  You are also loud enough you can let us know how unhappy you are pretty easily!  Luckily, it's not very often that we have to see this side of you, as you are generally a pretty happy baby.
  • Mommy just loves your smiles, and you will give them out freely.
  • You are eating about 5 oz of formula every 4 hours, getting in a total of 24 to 25 oz a day.  We never tried to put you on a schedule, but you have fallen into a very predictable routine naturally.  I think that the daycare lady very much appreciates this.
  • You very much enjoy your baths!  We started using the infant tub in the big tub, since you have good enough head control now to sit in it.  We are trying to get you to splash on your own in the tub (which I'm sure we will regret doing later).  You get the biggest grins on your face when we do it.  I hope this means we are going to get to enjoy lots of pool time this summer!
I recorded a couple of videos this month that mommy thinks are just too cute not to share.  You will need to turn up the sound on the second video to hear it.

We're rolling...

Well, it looks like someone has really learned how to roll over!

He's done it now 5 or 6 times on purpose, but I keep managing to miss getting him on camera (he's too quick!).  Then, when I do have my camera out, he decides he doesn't feel like it.  I was starting to feel like the tree falling in the forest metaphor, did the baby really roll over if I could never get it on camera??

Today though, I finally caught him!  I think he was starting to feel bad for teasing me so many times.

Here he is, in all his rolling glory (please forgive my squealy, high pitched voice in the background)!
